With my October competition in mind, which is 10 reps of a 35kg log for time, I've opted not to continue to go up in weight, but work on building up the reps. I'd noticed the other women training often do a clean and press, then another press, so I stuck to 40kg but in those style sets of 2. I did attempt a set of 3 but failed the third press, went for another clean and press and lost my balance! I felt my back twinge and it winded me a bit, so I called it a day on the log.
The yoke weight will be 110kg, and I was comfortable doing a few runs with 120kg on there though I need to practice keeping my feet hip-width apart and the speed of my turn.
I had my first go at a rope pull, and the 50kg weight is manageable. More practice to keep the hand speed up will help, but I'm comfortable with this event.
Last up was axle deadlifts. The October event is 10 reps x 80kg for time, and I was ok doing sets of 3 with the axle. I then did 10 x 65kg to see if my form started to go, but it was fine. It's speed I need to work on, and I have a kettlebell accessory exercise to help me out!
